Traveling is frustrating most of the time for most people. It is also expensive. Imagine having to travel long distances often when you are ill and alone. It is a night-mare.
The fact of the matter is that cancer doesn't choose victims who live next door to the hospital where they need to go to receive care. In fact, Shelia had to travel several hundred miles from her small West Virginia home to the city of Philadelphia for her treatment. Aaron and other family members would accompany her when finances would allow, but there were times the money just wasn't there. Insurance doesn't cover loved ones' travel expenses even though the presence of a family member is just as vital to the success of the cancer treatment as the travelling itself.
This foundation seeks to raise money and awareness of this on-going issue.
